Collision-reaction cell MC-ICP-MS

The newest frontier in isotopic analysis of heavier elements is the introduction of collision-reaction cells to MC-ICP-MS instruments. These next-generation mass spectrometers (including our Nu Sapphire) can eliminate interfering elements and polyatomic species from an analyte of interest, allowing superior resolution and/or sensitivity for certain measurements. We are actively working to develop this method for selenium isotope analysis, in addition to using recently-established methods for other measurements (e.g., calcium, potassium).
